About Me

IMG_0508.jpeg

Hello! My name is Max Kennel. I'm the writer of the Kennedy Center award-wining play The Story of Jimmy Kaplingus. Based in San Diego, I can be found being a general board game, comic book, and video game goblin.

The closest words that explain my experience when I write are the base Latin definition of inspiration which means “spirit’s breath,” or the idea that something beyond comprehension is blowing its breath into my soul, electrifying my entire self into action. I hope that I can invoke in others a similar feeling of motivation and joy. If I can incite even one person to commit a positive act through my writing as art has for me, I would consider that work a success.

I've worked on a variety of plays and short fiction, whose topics vary from existential crabs to the eldritch depths of love, most of which are linked on this very site. Any plays you cannot find on my website can be found on my New Play Exchange linked here
